Choosing the Right BB Weight

BB weight is measured in grams (g). The heavier the BB, the more stable and accurate it tends to be — but it will travel slightly slower.

Below is a simple guide:

🔹 0.12g

  • Very light
  • Only suitable for low-power spring pistols
  • Not recommended for AEGs or gas rifles

🔹 0.20g

  • Standard entry-level weight
  • Common for chronograph testing
  • Good for basic AEGs

🔹 0.25g (Most Popular Choice)

  • Better accuracy and stability
  • Ideal for most AEG rifles
  • Excellent balance of range and consistency

🔹 0.28g – 0.30g

  • Improved stability in outdoor conditions
  • Great for upgraded AEGs and gas rifles
  • Better wind resistance

🔹 0.32g – 0.40g+

  • Used mainly in DMRs and sniper rifles
  • Maximum stability and accuracy
  • Designed for higher-powered setups

General Recommendation

For most players:

  • Indoor / CQB: 0.20g or 0.25g
  • Outdoor AEG: 0.25g or 0.28g
  • DMR / Sniper: 0.30g and above

If you're unsure, 0.25g is a safe and popular choice for most standard AEG rifles.

Bio BBs vs Standard BBs

Many sites now require biodegradable BBs.

🌱 Bio BBs

  • Break down naturally over time
  • Required at many outdoor sites
  • Environmentally friendly

⚪ Standard BBs

  • Do not biodegrade
  • Often slightly cheaper
  • Typically used at indoor sites

Always check your site’s rules before purchasing.

What Size Are Airsoft BBs?

Standard airsoft BBs are 6mm in diameter.

Some specialist guns use 8mm BBs, but these are far less common. Always check your gun specifications before purchasing.

How Many BBs Should You Buy?

Typical bottle sizes:

  • 3,000 BBs
  • 5,000 BBs
  • 10,000+ BB bags

For a full game day, most players use:

  • 1,000–3,000 BBs depending on play style

It’s always wise to have extra.

Storage & Care Tips

  • Keep BBs dry and sealed
  • Avoid mixing different brands or weights
  • Do not reuse BBs
  • Store away from dirt and moisture

Contaminated BBs are one of the main causes of jams.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using 0.12g BBs in high-powered AEGs
  • Buying the cheapest unbranded BBs
  • Using damaged or dirty BBs
  • Mixing weights in the same magazine
